Come tour the RAA facilities!
About this event
Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling after it leaves the curb? Join us for a family-friendly event to learn how recycling sorting works at Recycle Ann Arbor’s Zero Waste Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), and discover more about our mission.
We will have eight tour groups running every 30 minutes from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, with six educational station stops. Each tour groups will consist of 20 people max per group, so sign up soon!
Please note: the MRF is a functioning industrial facility. To ensure everyone’s safety, the facility will not be operational during the Trash Talk Tour.
Tour Guidelines:
ATTENDEES MUST WEAR:
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes (with thick soles) or boots to cover all parts of feet (no sandals, flip flops, crocs, etc.)
- Long pants to ankle (no shorts/capris or dresses)
- These clothing requirements are important for your safety!
Everyone in the family needs their own ticket.
No children under 12, all children 12-17 years old need to be accompanied by an adult.
Attendees must register and check in on-site at their assigned time, or they will not be able to take the tour.
RAA will supply a high-visibility vest as the primary personal protective equipment (PPE) for your visit. If you have your own OSHA approved PPE, please feel free to bring it along.
General Safety guidelines:
Our plant is a functioning industrial facility. Always follow the following guidelines when onsite:
An RAA representative will escort you around the site at all times.
Always maintain close proximity to each other while touring the site. A good rule of thumb is to always keep eye contact with all group members during the tour.
Parking Information:
Enter the gate from Platt Rd (the Ellsworth Rd gate will not be open) and check in with volunteers, parking will be at the MRF facility parking lot (space is limited, please try to carpool).
